Who we are:
Preston Panthers Disability Sports Club is a non-profit/ self funding organisation that helps children and young people with a disability or special need aged 5 to 25. The children and young people have a range of disabilities which span the whole spectrum of 'disability' as such are both visible and non-visible. The club helps the children interact with others and teaches them lots of skills which are beneficial for growing up.
Where we run and what we offer week to week:
We run in the sports hall at West View Leisure Center, Preston. Our highly trained coaches and volunteers are ready to help our members join in and find something they like to do. We do a multitude of activities like football, cricket, basketball, hockey, badminton, and much more!
Prices and times:
We run on Saturdays and it costs £5 to do dry sports. We run this from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Our disability community swim runs from 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm The dry sports include games like football, badminton, basketball, hockey, tennis and a sensory session. We have a break at 4:50 pm for about 5-10 minutes so everyone can have a snack and a drink.
The cost for the swimming will be £2.50 for children and £5 for anyone over the age of 18. A parent or carer will be able to swim for free.
Most years if funds allow we go to Calvert Trust for a weekend and do things like archery, bushcraft, swimming, kayaking and horse riding. It is a great physical and sensory experience for you and your children to go for the weekend. You don't have to go if you don't want to but if you do you wont regret it. All the food is included in the price and there is sleeping accommodations provided. It has stunning views so bring your phone or camera!
It is located in the Lake District and the coach ride is also in the price of it all but if you are too busy or can't go because of something don't worry i'll post any pictures of the trip on this webpage and onto our social media. We also have some pictures and a video of our most recent visit on the Calvert pictures page!
