Preston Panthers Disability Sports Club

 

Constitution

 

  1. Title

 

1.1       The Club shall be called Preston Panthers Disability Sports Club, hereafter to be referred to as “the Club”.

 

  1. Objects

 

  1. To establish and run a multi-sports club for children and young people and Adults with a disability.

 

  1. Powers

 

In furtherance of the objects of the Club, the committee shall have the power to:

 

  1. Raise funds

 

  1. Invite and receive contributions

 

  1. Buy, lease or exchange property necessary for the achievement of the objects, and equip it for use

 

  1. Sell, lease or dispose of all or any part of the property of the Club

 

  1. Co-operate with statutory authorities and other community and voluntary organisations to exchange information and advice with them in furtherance of the objects.

 

4          Membership

 

  1. There shall be three classes of membership:-

 

  1. full membership - open to the parents, carers and/or guardians of children, young people and Adults using the facilities of the club (full voting rights).

 

  1. Participants membership - open to those between 5-25 years (non-voting).

 

  1. Associate membership - to anyone committed to furthering the interests of the Club (non-voting).

 

 

5          Officers

 

5.1       The Officers of the Club shall be as follows:

6          Election of Officers

 

  1. All officers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Club by full members of the Club.

 

  1. All officers are elected for a period of one year, but may be re-elected to the same office or another office the following year.

 

7          Management Committee

 

  1. The affairs of the Club shall be controlled by a Management Committee comprising of the officers of the Club with the support of all committee members.

 

  1. The duties of the Management Committee shall be:

 

7.2.1   To control the affairs of the Club on behalf of the Members

 

7.2.2   To keep accurate accounts of the finances of the Club through the Treasurer.  These should be available for reasonable inspection by members and should be independently examined before every Annual General Meeting.  The Club shall maintain a bank account and the following shall be authorised to sign Club cheques: any two officers of the club.  No two related officers should sign a cheque.

 

7.2.3   To co-opt additional members of the Committee from within the paid up membership, if the Committee feel they have relevant skills.

 

8          Annual General Meeting

 

  1. The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held not later than the end of July each year.  21 clear days notice shall be given to Members of the Annual General Meeting.  Members must advise the Secretary in writing of any business to be moved at the Annual General Meeting at least 14 days before a meeting.  The quorum for an AGM will be a third of full members.

 

  1. The business of the Annual General Meeting shall be to:

 

  1. Receive and approve the independently examined audited accounts for the year from the Treasurer.

 

  1. Nomination of candidates for election of Officers shall be made on a form designed for the purpose and agreed by the committee.

 

  1. Review Club subscription rates and agree them for the forthcoming year.

 

  1. Transact such other business as requested by members.

 

  1. A quorum for a General Meeting shall be one third of full members.

 

  1. Each full member of the Club shall be entitled to one vote at General Meetings.

 

  1. Decisions made at a General Meeting shall be by a simple majority of votes from those full members attending the meeting.  In the event of equal votes, the Chairperson shall be entitled to an additional casting vote.

 

9          Alterations to the Constitution

 

  1. Any proposed alterations to the Club Constitution may only be considered at an Annual or Special General Meeting. Any alteration or amendment must be proposed by a full member of the Club and seconded by another full member.  Such alterations shall be passed if supported by a simple majority of those full members present at the meeting, assuming that a quorum has been achieved.

 

 

  1. Dissolution

 

  1. If the Committee decides it is necessary or advisable to dissolve

the Club it shall call a meeting of all members and if the proposal to dissolve is agreed by at least two thirds of the members present the Committee shall take steps to dissolve the Club

 

  1. Any remaining assets after the satisfaction of proper debts and

liabilities shall be given to another Club having similar aims and objectives to Preston Panthers.
